It has just been recently announced that STM-Short-Term Medical Plans will now be offered via Allstate Health Solutions once again for up to 3-Year Plans.
The U.S. Department of Labor, HHS-Health and Human Services, as well as the U.S. Treasury announced in a recent memo that they “will not prioritize enforcement of the new federal limits on Short-Term Medical (STM) Plans” while evaluating existing regulations.
Why is this so Important?
For starters. more than half of my clients that call me for health Coverage are simply not allowed on to an ACA-Obamacare style plan simply because they do not have a QLE-Qualifying Life Event. Often times, with no good alternative. They were forced to call back during Open Enrollment for a January 1st, 2026, coverage effective date. Now, things have changed for the better! Actually, they simply changed back to the way it uses to be prior to September 1st, 2024. Longer policy lengths were available for the past 6-7 years and generally served as a great alternative for those potential clients that either had no QLE at point of need, or they were not a good candidate for ACA Subsidies.
Am I a Good Candidate for STM?
- Generally Healthy, No Diabetes are Significant Pre-Ex Conditions
- No QLE, and need coverage right away
- Need True Major Medical, NOT an Indemnity policy
- Earning too much for ACA Subsidies? Individuals $63K+, Couples $85K+. Major Changes are coming for 2026!
- Just need Temporary Coverage between Jobs
- Would like to reduce cost as much as half of the full ACA cost
- Benefits: Telemedicine for FREE! Urgent Care at nearly half off! Million Dollars of coverage! 690K Providers Aetna Nationwide Network! Co-Pay Plans available.
- NOT Covered: Maternity, Nervous & Mental Disorders, Air Ambulance
When in doubt, always best to call and let us do a 5-minute review!!

This is a new addition to the “What the Health?” newsletter that I will try to keep brief and to the point. Hopefully, this may help shed a little light on a somewhat complex health insurance world.
